Looking for some family fun this weekend? What about a fresh idea for date night?

How about a drive-in movie?

Drive-in theaters started springing up all over the Valley in 2020, filling a void caused by the closure of indoor theaters because of COVID-19. They offer patrons a big-screen experience from the safety and comfort of their vehicles. Some even offer snacks. Who knows if the trend will last, but it’s great to enjoy while it’s here!

When you check websites for this week’s flicks, be sure you check rules regarding safety protocols and important things like, can you bring in your own snacks?

Then, get set for buttery popcorn and grab the car keys. Here are the best outdoor theaters in the Valley:

West Wind Glendale 9 Drive-In
5650 N 55th Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301
Ph: (623) 939-9715
In operation since 1979, it’s Phoenix’s only old-school drive-in still in operation. Patrons say you can bring in your own snacks (without having to sneak them in…)

AZ Digital Drive-In
1901 N Alma School Rd, Mesa, AZ 85201
Ph: (480) 308-1515
Patrons said the entrance was a bit confusing, but audio and picture quality were superb

Moonlight Movie Night – Scottsdale Drive-In
15449 N Hayden Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85260
Ph: (480) 245-5152
Check their website for ticket discounts when you buy takeout from Sonora Village restaurants.

Next time you’re looking ahead to another weekend of entertainment, why not put down the remote? From classics to all-time favorites, you’re sure to find an outdoor cinema showing a favorite flick!
