Why Not Show Your Home a Little Love this Valentine’s Day?

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it’s time to celebrate the ones we love. These days, we’re spending more and more time in our homes. So, once you’ve celebrated with chocolates, roses and a romantic dinner with your significant other, how about showing your home a little bit of love, too?
Here are some easy steps to give your home a hug without emptying your wallet:
Spice up your decor. You’ve put away those holiday decorations, but it’s not quite time for spring. That doesn’t mean you can’t spruce things up with a bouquet of fresh flowers in the dining room. Looking for something a bit more permanent? How about a fresh coat of paint in the guest room, new pillows or comfy throw on the sofa, or a new piece of wall art for the entryway? Whatever your choice, you’ll be surprised at how even a small change will have you falling in love with your home all over again.
Kick clutter to the curb. Nothing says “I love you” like getting a head start on some spring cleaning. Start by going through your home and getting rid of all the clutter that’s gathered on your countertops, nightstand and tables over the last few months. Once you’ve got clutter under control, complete your pre-spring cleaning by washing the windows, having the bedroom carpets cleaned and dusting those ceiling fan blades and light fixtures. You’ll love the fresh feeling you’ll get from your entire home.
Make those little fixes. What are those minor fixes that you never seem to get around to doing? Make a list, then work your way down it. Want to save water or create a more spa-like shower experience? Change up your showerhead. Still dealing with those yellowed, cracked outlet covers? Pennies will get you pristine white ones. Faucets outdated in the bathroom? Change up the fixtures. From cabinet pulls to floor lamps, small-budget updates can bring a whole new look to your home.
Spruce up your outdoors surroundings. Now is a great time to liven up your home’s outdoor entertainment spaces and curbside appeal. Replace tired or dead plants. Choose a new color scheme and then select plants that have blooms matching your vision. Ditch those sun-worn cushions and replace them with new, bright colors. Add new landscape lighting or a bistro set.
Giving your home a bit of attention doesn’t have to be time-consuming and expensive. Small changes can have a big impact on your home, whether you are trying to impress a future buyer or improve a space you plan to enjoy for years to come.
